My Christmas Card! I love it!: Graphic Design, Greenwood, SC

I absolutely love my Christmas card this year, and I think part of the reason is that is was a spur of the moment decision that worked out Wonderfully! So, yes, I was busy this December….. R-E-A-L-L-Y Busy, and know that next year I’ll start Christmas work, shopping, baking, wrapping, kid wrangling, etc much earlier (famous last words, right!), because this year everything landed me – BAM – all at once.

Caroline’s schedule was a big part of it all – please tell me how do you cart your children around and still manage to put dinner on the table. Well.. I guess I did have dinner… but it was mostly Chick-Fil-A, Migs, and frozen pizza! This was between theater performances, her piano recital and chorus performances – and I’m sure many of you do much more than this!

So, there i was December 17th without a Christmas card and not one creative idea and I knew how much trouble I would have with Jake who despises the camera, Caroline who tells everyone how to pose, me who has to make sure the lighting is just perfect and Hubie… well, he just wants to go fishing. How could I possibly get us dressed to perfection, find the a spot that would be awesome and make sure we all looked happy while freezing our %$# off outside! I was truly screaming inside. Then it was like floating feathers from heaven raining down on me, and a voice in my head saying…. shoot your legs, shoot your legs, SHOOT YOUR LEGS!!! Seriously, I didn’t even have to think twice -even when my sister called me wierd, my mom said “only you”, and my house keeper said “are you sure?”- This was an incredible idea and we were dressed, no hair fixing, no adjusting chins, or silly smiles, and Jake would not have to get dressed at all. (If you have a boy you soooo know what I’m dealing with here, lol).

Whew, I’m out of breath, but that’s how it went down. I set the camera on a tripod, adjusted the camera settings and pre-focused, then I showed Jake’s 2nd grade friend, Ryan, the button to press and ran to my spot. Wow, he’s good! Jake is yelling at him, but then again so was I… well not yelling, but he kept saying “Mrs. Karen, I don’t think your heads are showing” too funny! I assured him it was fine…..perfectly fine.

The Big Day is here!

And my kids are so excited! It’s cookie day, and I’ll have you know right away we make gourmet cookies. Yes, these recipes have been handed my my (second mom) Aunt Corrie who is an awesome gourmet cook. Although I have several different Swiss recipes, we’ll be making Mailanderli and Spitzbuebe cookies today. Go look them up – YUUUMMMIIIEEE! Along with these we’ll make sausage balls and gingersnaps! Well, we’re hoping these gingersnaps will turn out better than the last ones where we added 1 1/4 CUPS of cinnamon rather than 1 1/4 teaspoons!!!

I love to bake with the kids, we laugh, mix and eat tons of dough! …. and, Yes my kitchen will be a disaster (I’m talking total train wreck with the flour) and my nerves will be shot, but it’s nothing that a little soap, water and wine won’t cure!

Family Time: Family Photographer, Greenwood, SC

As I frantically try to finish my shopping, cleaning, wrapping, and cooking…. along with kids, school, pets and elves, I also reflect on the meaning of family. Christmas time is a beautiful time, full of love and wonder, where the gift of giving supersedes anything you can receive. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas with their families and in the mean time completes all of the outrageous tasks we take on during this season!

Here is a family enjoying their time together. Beautiful day, beautiful people, but most of all, a beautiful family.

In The News! : Awesome Events… Amazing Fun!

So much is happening so fast I decided to make one big BLOG post and squeeze it all in. For starters…. IT’S CHRISTMAS!! I have a few presents, and that’s only because of my Wonderful husband, but otherwise – I’m screwed! And… for those of you that know my family, then you know we’re visited by ELVES each year. Trust me when I say these are not the cute and adorable “Elf on the Shelf” elves… these are horrible little creatures that create mischief in our home and wreck havoc – which my children LOVE. How bad is it??? Well, lets just say I’ve enlisted my housekeeper for every week in December rather than every other week.

Second – I’m still looking for 2011 Senior Models. I’m so excited about the applications I have and will begin setting up interviews and test sessions soon….. real soon, so if you are thinking about applying do so immediately. All I can say is it’s going to be FUN – so much fun – and you get to be styled by Salon Beverly in Greenville, SC. Click here for the Senior Blog which has more info.

Third – Did you just read what I wrote??? Yes…. now we have a Senior Blog!! Cool stuff, fun stuff, sassy images – it has it all along with info JUST FOR SENIORS!! Check it out – and bookmark it!

FourthSouthern Elegance FASHION Shoot for Prom Dresses!! I need MODELS for this event! Fifth – It’s the first annual “Lakelands Triple Crown”. This is an official Little Miss South Carolina preliminary pageant with nine (9) age divisions and three winners will be crowned in each division! (Miss Greenwood, Miss Ware Shoals, and Miss Abbeville) So basically there are three chances to win in each division for only one entry fee! Oh yeah baby… I know some of you are doing the happy dance right now! It will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Ninety Six Primary School. There are tons more details – like how the age groups are divided, rehearsal info and times, on the Official Pageant Application Here. And why am I so excited about this, you ask! Because I’m going to be the official picture taker BEFORE the pageant begins. Which means if you would like a drop dead gorgeous image of you or your daughter while being all spoofy (is that a word? I love it regardless!) – I’ll be set up to capture the moment. Ok… now it’s my turn to dance, lol! Anyways…. check it out! If your into pageants this one is a MUST, and the one and only triple crown Little Miss SC preliminary.
