My Favorite Couture Patch Pants

The above picture is one of my favorites for several reasons. 1. It’s Caroline, my daughter. 2. She’s wearing a pair of re-worked patch jeans we made – still LOVE them and still plan on making more! 3. I think it’s a super great shot from 5 years ago when I first opened my photography business.

Now to elaborate a little. Caroline is now 12! Where does the time go? She’s rarely in front of the camera because she’s always by my side assisting and feeding me her 2 cents on how the session should go! Next, the pants… sometimes called mosaic pants, were a pair of jeans we ripped apart (-simplified tutorial- by ripping I mean gently cutting the threads of the inner leg seam from one side, through the croch, then back down the other leg), randomly placing and sewing coordinating patches into place, and finally sewing the inner leg seam back together. Holy Smokes… they look so good… especially in that setting, tall dead grass, lake and blue sky, with a great photographer of course (ha, had to throw that in). As soon as I make my next pair, you bet they’ll be up here with more details because they’re easy enough for anyone to try! Hopefully it will not be another 5 years!

Tween with Attitude!! Tween Photographer Karen Holubek, Greenwood, SC

Plain and simple… teens, tweens, pre-teens, what ever you want to call them have attitude too. I know I shoot a lot of seniors… but I LOVE working with tweens too! Middle school years are tough… drama, more drama, puberty, boyfriends, no boyfriends, acne, growth spurts, mood swings, oh… and drama!!! Making them laugh (even though they typically prefer the serious shots), helping them to feel great about themselves and knowing that I can make them feel like a Rock Star during these emotional rollercoaster years gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside that I love. Ok… didn’t want this to turn mushy, lol, but if you have a teen or you are a teen then you know what it’s like to see them have a great day and be on top of the world! This generation is amazing… “they embrace new, they embrace now, they embrace speed, they embrace the easiest way… which ultimately gives them more free time”….. and isn’t that what we all want??!! This came from a great article by Jeffrey Gittomer, which really helps you to see that this generation is tuely amazing! So yes, I love for them to come in with their attitudes, I love to push them to new limites, and yes, I love for them to feel as amazing about themselves as they really are!

Heartthrob Sessions – Valentines Special for Couples, Greenwood Photographer Karen Holubek

You know who I’m talking about… the one that makes your heart skip a beat, flutter, and speed up. Your body gets tingly, butterflies in your stomach that reach to your toes!!! Whether you’re …… going out, talking, dating, texting, friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, fiancé, in love, out of love, just married, first year, 3rd month, etc. this is for you…. and just in time for Valentines.

This is a Limited Special. What does that mean? It’s Special pricing, a special day, special online viewing of images, and a Super Special Session with your Heartthrob! The sessions are being booked 45 minutes apart, with 30 minutes in the studio on Saturday, January 21st, 2012. Your session package costs $95 and includes 2 – 5×7′s and 1 – ipix image (for mobile devices or social networking with logo) from one pose. You’ll have 20-25 images to choose from in an online gallery with a shopping cart. In order to hold your spot the session package must be paid in advance with any major credit card. And… for one more Special Twist….weather permitting you can upgrade your package once you arrive which will add 10 minutes outdoors for $10 (but only available the day of the shoot b/c we’ll have to check the weather).

Now for the fine print…. you must be 18 years or older to sign for yourself, otherwise a parent or guardian must sign a release before you come or tag along with you for the fun. Each person photographed MUST have a release. This Heartthrob Special is for couples ONLY. Sessions will not be rescheduled.
